Body of Nigeria's First Ebola Victim Gets Cremated

The body of late Patrick Sawyer, a WASH consultant from the Ministry of Finance Liberia who was diagnosed with Ebola Virus in Lagos state has been cremated (burnt to ashes). He was cremated on Friday July 25th. Patrick who came for a conference in Lagos died, on the night of Thursday July 24th making him the first reported case of the virus in Nigeria (Read More Here). The Lagos state government has repeated that he was cremated to prevent further spread of the disease. World Health Organisation (WHO) also warns that, cremation is ideal for safe disposal of bodies of persons who die during the outbreaks of highly infectious diseases such as Ebola Virus in order to minimise further transmission.
